Jamie Upshaw, MS, MA

  • ACE Lead Community Engagement Specialist
  • PAARCC Co-Lead
  • SUN Collaborator
  • Founder & Executive Director of Autism Urban Connections, Inc.

Jamie has a son diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. After discovering the lack of supports, education, and resources available in the African American, minority, and economically disadvantaged communities, in January 2015, Jamie founded Autism Urban Connections as a support group for families impacted by autism. In September 2018, Autism Urban Connections Inc., became the first and only African American, minority, family focused Autism 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Jamie and AUC Inc., have a mission to provide education, support, advocacy and empowerment, with an emphasis on self-care to families of those diagnosed with Autism.  She works to see that all families receive the individualized supports and education to access valuable resources and services that enhance the quality of life, and break down barriers, while addressing the disparities in our most marginalized communities.
